Bye Vanamoutu and Hello OZ!

Here is a video I made of the place I stayed in Vanamotu. I had a seven hour lay over in New Zealand and got to edit it there. Editing is really challenging for me but people are always willing to help me out which is awesome!

I am in Australia right now and loving it! My friend Glen "Sully" Sullivan picked me up from the airport. He showed me the famous Emerald bodyboard shop that has been around for 31 years. I got to see the first Riptide mag along with the $10,000 first place check for the winner of the Shark Island contest and getting to surf Shark Island for a few days. I then took a train to meet up with my friend Eli Beach who just got home from Bali. Waves should be getting good so hopefully some photos to come!

Vanamotu Frame Grabs and Vimeo

Eric the producer of the Drift dvd has been working hard lately filming and documenting our trip. He is working on making his second DVD which should be AMAZING!
Also I got word that Alternative Surf is going to be getting 30 more of his dvds! Here is what Ron Dog had to say about his first video; "Thumbs up. Excellent footage of unknown riders on their own turf (surf). Check out my favorite Chile and Puerto sections along with some killer helmet cam footage. All this for $19.95...how can you pass it up!"
Here are a few frame grabs to enjoy!

I mean he did spend a good time in Hawaii this year with his east coast friends. I got to stay with him last year and really looking forward to this year. He will definetley be a local favorite for the event!

Sandy's result and Vanamotu

The sandy beach pro was the second event on the USBA tour. The event went off in big success. Contest director Jason Bitzer and his crew did a great job putting a professional and organized event. I didn't get the result I was looking for at all. I always learn really valuable lessons in my losses which is a good thing. I got 4th place in round two. I am not sure what my overall placing was in the event but I think it was my worst result since my first Jenk Pro event three years ago! Here is a quote from day one press release; "Keahi Parker and Amateur Trevor Kam made it through their first USBA Pro heats with consistant surfing. Leaving many big names in the dust such as Kainoa Lum and Jeremy Wright who had both surfed well but where ousted by local knowledge."
I was pretty bummed on my result but the fact that I was heading to the Cook Islands for three week the very next day made me feel a lot better. The waves have been good in Cooks and I will be putting some frame grabs up from videographer Eric, the guys who made THE DRIFT.

I am in Kauai right now and will be leaving to Oahu tommorow for the second event for the USBA tour. The Sandy Beach Pro!!

The event poster

The teaser for the event the footage is from last years event! Super fun waves! Dave Hubbard won the pro division

Here is a clip by Jordan Stallard of when I got to do the event two years ago! Tamega was killing it as you'll see and I have waves at 1:43 ARS to spin and at 2:08 a barrel to a roll. I made the quarters that year and I really want to better that result!
